Behind the Image #25
I’m sometimes asked which is the favourite image I’ve taken, and the answer is simply I haven’t taken it yet. Whilst I love so much about photography; the processes, the constant learning and appreciating, I don’t love my own final product. Don't get me wrong, there are some I like, but by the time I get to publishing something, my heart and my head have moved on. More often than not I am berating myself for a perceived failure within the image and looking forward to the next opportunity to make it better.
So when I presented this image as a gift to an Artist in New York, I recognised the pained expression of someone presented with a reminder of her percieved faults in her work. By redeveloping my website I have had to look at my work as dispassionately as possible, and consider how new work compares against the old. It hasn't been an easy process but I realise the enjoyment is in the journey rather than the destination.
Till next time,
